Dress To Impress!
When visiting other blogs as a commentor, it’s important that you create the right impression!
By now, you likely know that the image beside your comment (known as a gravatar) is super important in your branding…
But what about the things you say … or don’t say?
Recently, there has been some heat generated in the community about the questionable quality of just a few comments left by a few newer members of the community on others blogs.
It’s important to remember that your comment should always be valuable, insightful, indicate WHAT you read in the content, and when possible either build on the conversation or invoke conversation by asking a question.
Anything less than that makes it easy to replace you with a spammer!
We’ve all seen “good spam” where it’s hard to tell spam from a real comment and the spammer possibly even read a portion of the post!
That comment is just as good for our site (if their links aren’t crap) as a weak comment from a community member is.
Admittedly, sometimes it’s really hard to write an interesting comment!
But when possible, you at least want to focus on making sure that your wording expresses what you just read about, etc.
Most of the community here is EXCELLENT about doing this!
I know there are days that comments just don’t come easily… but always do your best to make sure that you are dressed to impress!
After all, it’s the type of comments that you would want left on YOUR site that you are aiming to help others build.
