Stop Someone From Seeing Your Stuff,
Sending You Invites, Or Bothering You On Facebook…

Whether you need a creepy person to go away… or an annoying one to stop sending you friend invites… the “Block” function on Facebook is mighty handy!

The “block” tool on Facebook is powerful because it makes your account “not exist” to the blocked individual.

Not only do they no longer see you as a friend (if you were one)… but when they search for you, it’s like you have never had a profile on Facebook.

Steps To Block Someone On Facebook:

1) Visit the profile of the person you wish to block.

2) Look for the “gear” (settings) icon at the bottom right of their timeline cover image. Click it.

3) In the dropdown, select either unfriend or report/block (both open the same popup)

4) Select the Block option (which will also unfriend a person at the same time if necessary) and click confirm…. done!

If a user has been doing things that violate the Facebook Terms of Service… it is also wise to report the account (timeline) so that it will get a review. (Things like this include griefing, harrassment, nudity, spamming, etc.)

(Parents, worried that that creepy guy on the other side of the family might like your child a little too much? Preemptive blocking is a powerful way to head off trouble!)

I personally use the Report & Block options on all spammers. This prevents them from re-requesting a friend invite and spamming me all over again six months down the road!

Poof! Be gone with you, spammer! Done!

Hope this helps make your Facebook a little safer and friendlier place!

I remember one instance where I blocked 1 of my friend to just check what this “Block” feature actually do. And it also unfriend my friend while blocking her. ;) Then I have to send FB request to add me. :P

Kim, Thanks for teaching me on how to block someone on Facebook. There are many times that some people ruin my day by posting nonsense on my wall.

Do you know how to block someone who has already blocked you? Someone blocked me. I don’t want them to see my posts either. Can I block them? They don’t show up on my list because they have already blocked me. OR does their blocking me already prevent them from seeing my posts??? UGH! This is so ridiculous lol!

If they’ve blocked you, Facebook separates the friendship status. They can manually visit your profile and they can see things you’ve posted with a public flag only. However, your content does not appear in their newsfeed and they can not see anything you’ve shared to any custom setting other than public.

I would like to block someone – when I type in their name to block – it says that the person can’t be found, yet when I type in a search I can see them – so I know they exist?

Help!!

You need to go directly to their profile and block them from there.
