Business Success Roadtrip v1
Hour 10 – Results Wont Occur Until I Grow To Their Level

DartsAs part of my major road trip to Savannah, GA Wordcamp and visiting with various friends and favorite places I documented my mindset and observations and how they relate to successful business development.

Be sure to check out the rest of the BSR series here.

What does not arriving at our driving destination when the time estimate says we should have have to do with business mindset? Just like Google Maps can not predict the human factors that go into a road trip – those of stretch breaks, exhaustion, bathroom breaks, traffic construction and more – estimates given on “time to results” by anyone including our mentors can not adequately account for the time it takes us to make the personal, mental, emotional development shifts that are needed to move to the next level in our business. This is why when someone says “I did x results in x number of days” that generally speaking it means only a little about the results YOU will get. Sure, it provides a singular view of what is possible, but it tells us nothing of what personal shifts the person had to make that we may not have. We could have slower or faster results. We could have results that blow the other guy out of the water simply because the things that slowed him or her down were portions of development we had already been through. This is why time estimations to results are not only tricky but can be frustration if we do not keep these things in mind.

You can find out more about my Business Success Roadtrip series as well as links to others in the series and eventually information on how to download the whole set as mp3s for your own listening over on the announcement page for the Business Success Roadtrip volume 1!

Like it? Love it? Have you ever found yourself frustrated by not getting the results that someone else is getting even though it “appears” you have the same training? How about the opposite…. Have you every gotten phenomenally better results on a task than was predicted and wondered why other people struggle with it? Have you ever bought into the “get this super awesome result in 30 days” sales approach and at the end of 30 days felt like you were just spinning your wheels? Does your networking company have a culture of either allowing or disallowing crossline to discuss their business results with each other without a common, shared upline present to mediate and mitigate the emotional rollercoaster? How do you successfully use others results to fuel your forward momentum without getting frustrated by them when you don’t succeed in matching them even though you did your best?  I look forward to reading your stories!

Kimberly,
Your message is loud and clear—slow down, take it step by step and develop yourself on a daily basis! I’ve been trying to race through the course. But then again, I always try to beat Google Maps time estimates (that lead to tickets at 91 mph).

You’ve drawn an analogy that I won’t forget!

Aloha Kim,

I love the way you used the entire road trip as an analogy of the road to success. You are so “right on” in your assessment. It’s always the “You” part of the equation which is the variable.

The answer always lies in the mirror, deep into those eyes. As Jim Rohn says “Work Harder On Yourself Than You Do On Your Job”. Congratulations on a great post.

Aloha,
Kellie :)
