My business depends on TechSmith products!
While I’ve blogged about TechSmith’s kick-ass screenshot utility (which is what I used to produce that cool infographic recently too) you may not know that all of my video editing (including the snazzy picture-in-picture tricks) are done in Camtasia.
Just the other day, I reformatted my computer, and Camtasia was one of the first things I reinstalled because I don’t go many days without using it either for public videos or for private client trainings. I’d be lost without it!
So it was an honor recently to connect with the team at TechSmith and get a private invitation to peek behind-the-scenes and learn things that I can FINALLY tell you about! (Can you believe they wanted to show me awesome stuff and then expected me to be quiet?!?! The nerve! LOL!!)

Camtasia 8 is a major (and substantial) update to CS 7.1.1 for the Windows platform application and has just became available to purchase. Mac users also received “point update” today from Mac CS version 2.1 to version 2.2 free for existing users. I own both and I’d like to note that the Mac and PC versions are substantially different (different tools, features, etc.)
For a (very) limited time, you can upgrade your existing Camtasia Studio license for a substantial discount.
#camtasia 8. Just installed it. omg omg omg. I sound like a drooling fanboy, but omg.

Beyond the amazing Quizzing feature (which is so powerful that anyone else would have made it a full new product), the thing that struck me the most was that we’re now able to treat video much more naturally (including rotation, coloration, borders and smooth transitions)… all while getting a smaller output file size (meaning faster uploading to YouTube, etc).
Chris Voss gives a great walk-through of the software itself:
Excited? I knew you would be!
Fortunately, TechSmith has hooked me up with a free copy of Camtasia 8 for you to have an opportunity to win!
The contest is pretty straight forward… the only mandatory entry is to get and install the (free) Camtasia 8 trial! Most of the point-earning-options can only be done once, but you can get points for sending the tweets and FB/G+ shares daily!
Let’s have some fun!
