Where Oh Where…
Did My Most Recent Feed Go?
Not too long ago, Facebook make major revamps to it’s NewsFeed.. resulting in what is now popularly known as the Hybrid Feed.
The problem with that is that it was incredibly biased and tended to be too “Big Brotherish” for many users.
(Of course, the corollary of this is that more users actually ended up seeing some items because many users never knew they had anything but Top News… but that’s another rant altogether!)
Fortunately, and presumably after looking at the 30 day metrics of the change (more on that in a couple days, something you’ll want to see)… Facebook returned the option to view your “Most Recent”.
Except now it simply says “Recent Stories First”!
To access the Most Recent posts view (rather than the Hybrid View), visit your home page by clicking on the Facebook logo in the upper left. Now near the top right of the center column you will find the new (returned) drop-down box where you can select “Recent Stories First”.
However, if you’re like me, you’ll likely return to using the NewsFeed as most of us did prior, occassionally flipping between the two filters to ensure we do not miss a post that became super-active many hours after it was posted.
I appreciate Facebook listening to the strong outcry of users on this topic and returning this element.
If you track your page’s stats, be sure to note this in your log, since any change to elements like these will create quirks in your trends.
Hope you enjoyed this tip! Let me know what you think about Facebook’s changes!
