Facebook News Feed
Gain — an app for managing Facebook marketing within teams — has studied the changes in News Feed and developed a clear infographic, showing the image sizes page admins need to know.
This is for images in the news feed. If, instead, you need cover graphic, milestone, etc graphics, see the link in the PS below.
There are three important numbers here:
1) The “perfectly sized news feed image” is 394 x 470 which is a 235:197 ratio.
2) Using a 3:4 ratio is a lot easier to calculate and fits “close enough” for most uses. (The old 1:1 ratio still works but wastes quite a bit of space on the right.)
3) Images on link posts will either use the tiny thumbnail (if that’s all FB can find) or will be cropped to a 1.91:1 ratio if they are a minimum size of 470 x 246.
