Time for another giveaway! This time it is a premium plugin called Facebook Viral Plugin and we are giving away one copy to the lucky winner.
Note: I was given a free copy of the plugin for this review. That did not affect this post and I am stating my honest opinion here.
What is Facebook Viral Plugin?
Facebook Viral Plugin creates text or box over your content so people need to like it or share it on Facebook to be able to see it.
The use of plugin is pretty straightforward, it is easy to install it and set it up. It requires you to create a Facebook app but it is all explained and shown in this video by the plugin creator, Martin.
Now that you know what the plugin is about, I am going to do something I’ve never done before. I will let you do the live testing here :)
I checked the plugin out in the offline version of my blog, but you will have the honor of testing it live here. That way you can see if it is something you can use on your own blog. Don’t forget, you can enter the giveaway below!
Update: I’ve removed the testing options one month after publishing the post, but you can still see how it looked in the screenshot below.
How does Facebook Viral Plugin work?
I can see this plugin working on a lot of blogs. Let’s say you write a post about making money with AllPosters affiliate program and you have an extra tip for your readers. But you want to “charge” the extra tip so you make people share your blog on Facebook (or like it) to get the access to the content.
It is similar principle to using CloudFlood, which you can see and try if you want to download my free list of 199 great blogs worth visiting. It is actually a very useful way of getting your posts viral.
It is very important not to trick people into clicking these types of share options. Make sure you actually have something good to offer so you would not upset them!
What I didn’t like about the plugin
Every review has to be fair on this blog so I will tell you about the things I didn’t like.
#1 Although I set the background images properly by choosing them in the box appearance menu, they are not showing in the post. So the yellowish boxes you see are supposed to look different.
I am not 100% sure if it is the plugin or some WordPress or theme issue, but the background isn’t showing.
#2 There is one thing this plugin really misses. That is the option to have different share text on each item you hide. So what ever you hide behind the “share” box, the share box is always going to be the same, since there is only one choice of setting the link and text.
I can hide as many items as I want, but I can only set one message for them all. This means you need to be careful what you want to make your landing page. This will require you to be smart about what is the most important to you and what you want to go viral.
I was told by the developer that multiple messages will be included in the second version of the plugin.
#3 The second option, sharing the post, refreshes the page while you are sharing it. Also, although I already like the link for the Box 3, I don’t see the content, so I guess I would have to un-like and like it again…
