Isn’t it time your Facebook Fan Page got a face lift?
Facebook pages are key to creating successful business exposure on Facebook!
Facebook is the #1 social site online with 43% of the market share. That is HUGE. They have exceeded Google for traffic by leaps and bounds and have no sign of slowing.
However, historically without quite a bit of work in most cases they are very hard to brand to yourself. Everything on the Facebook platform has a distinct Facebook look and feel that many would consider to be sterile. The boring blue and white can make it hard to create the distinction you crave…
Now, Hubze’s new Fan Page Engine is out to help you make simple work of the formerly HIGHLY technically complicated “FBML” (Facebook Markup Language”) application used for those beautiful landing tabs used on professional looking Fan Pages.
Not sure if you’ve seen these landing tabs of which I speak? Because they can be custom coded, they can look fairly diverse. A landing tab is a specific tab (usually running the FBML stuff) that Facebook can be set to make all not-yet-fans land on when they first visit. It can be used to improve exposure, branding, opt-ins and more. These tabs are absolutely critical to maximizing your presence and success with businesses fan page. An example of a beautiful landing tab can be see on Mari Smith‘s page on Facebook.
But… you may say… Mari paid big money to have her’s coded. Although she can do a little coding, like you, she’s NOT a designer or professional coder.
Paying big money isn’t in the game plan for some… and now it doesn’t have to be!
Hubze’s new Fan Page Engine, a FBML Generator, allows you for the first time ever, to set up these types of tabs using a simple tutorial video and a few clicks through their template generator! Simply select your template, fill in your information in the particular areas, add your graphics (or optionally have them make some for you!), and then copy-paste! A simple easy to use FBML generator that can get you going quickly and easily! It can’t get much simpler!
Now lets talk about what you’re likely to need.
If you’re just getting started with your own page and on a tight budget, the basic package will get you their two basic templates and have you up and running. You do need to be able to scale your images to the sizes needed by the template builder. (For those that aren’t photoshop ready I suggest the really easy to use free Paint.Net program.)
If you’re doing work on multiple pages, and flexibility is key for you, I suggest looking at the Unlimited package. It has all their great templates and the price is still really affordable. This is also the package you’ll want if you’re designing for other businesses who already have their artwork. Because I design for others and because I’m comfortable either adjusting art or sending people to get new art, this is the package I’ve chosen as my pick! (Its also a good option if you’re not thrilled by the basic template which to be honest isn’t as nice as their others.)
The Custom and Advanced packages are ideal for those not interested in having to get their existing art adjusted or that need new art. Whether you want just a new header or a full art package including a video, those packages will get you a professional high caliber look that will help you stand out! I also have some other options available to you for custom art, once you pick which template you plan to use and know what size you will need, just ask!
I am crazy excited to have the opportunity to put my name as both an affiliate and a satisfied customer of Fan Page Engine! Give them a look today!

Wow, this sounds incredible. I have been neglecting my fan page, and this has me really inspired. I love all the neat tools you find that make our lives so much easier!
You’re the best, Kim, thanks again!

I actually have a scheduled post in the near future about being able to create your own FBML custom page. A lot of people who are not as code savvy will enjoy this FBML generator.

At last – Thanks for this Kim. I think these will become mire and more readily available as coders make more of the fact that the masses struggle with FBML.

btw.. there are facebook page templates already! created especially for the FBML application.. not much of them though.. for instance here – http://www.flashmint.com/show-type-facebook.html
Those are really sharp Tim, thanks for pointing them out. The price is affordable but the one thing I see is that those FBML templates are not compliant with the upcoming 520 pixel limitation for tabs so will be rather badly broken when it goes into place. The notes about that are in the development blog as an announcement for upcoming changes. Those FBML templates are very nice though. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Kim,
That’s actually a very cool product! I’ve created my own landing page, but definitely needs some sizzle to it. Hey, I never said I was an artist.
May take a look at these guys. I just don’t have the time to upgrade my own. Thanks for the link!
Keep rockin’ it!

FBML for Facebook is sadly going away and being replaced by iFrames. That being said, this YouTube video offers a great way to automatically generate an iFrames site from your FBML page. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTrvzjJgS6g Dr. Lipscomb also posted a great blog at http://www.socialmediadentist.com/blog that explains how to install iFrames on Facebook.
Thanks Stephen. I am not a fan of monthly payment solutions so I have carefully avoided them. In the case of these iframes though there is a monthly hosting cost that “someone” has to pick up and so whether its our own hosting or a providers hosting, somewhere there will be an expense incurred. Thanks for sharing his video as its neat to see what others are using at the moment.
Kimberly
I certainly understand monthly payment solutions – but there is a difference if there is no contract – plus it allows developers to continually update software as there is a continual flow of income.
We enable people to use our tool as much and often as they like, and we host their images and files for them. The average fanpage cost $200 + we are only charging $29 a month (without a contract and we host the files) and individuals can create and edit as many pages as they like.
I think that a good discussion would be to see exactly what people want. Thank you so much for allowing us to create discussions like this!
Hi Kim,
Just what I need to give the old fan page an uplift.
I am so glad I am subscribed to your newsletter.

Hi Kim,
This page came to me in a Google search, after scouring for a decent article on FBML.
I cannot seem to find a link to be able to create my own landing tab, although I must agree that Mari’s looks excellent.
Hey Darren, its important to realize that this post is old. FMBL began the phase out period in April and as of this up coming spring will cease working entirely. It’s replacement, known as iframes are just as good but would result in a different search result for you. I have an iframes 101 course I offer if you’re interested. It’s worth noting however, that Mari has had a LOT of custom development done on hers by a skilled graphic artist/coder.
