With the arrival of Google’s new social network, Google+, many of the amazing applications in Google’s collection are getting reworked, revamped and re-dressed for the occasion.
The fresh coats of paint for Gmail and Google Calendar show off not only a lot of white space but a lot of focus on better mobile browser compatibility.
To enable the new look, if it is not auto-enabled, go to the upper right hand corner, to the little gear icon and click it… then in the drop down select “try new look”. For now, there is also a “use classic look” available if you do not like the new one, though this is not likely to remain. You can learn more about the calendar changes here.
To enable the new look, if it is not auto-enabled, go to the upper right hand corner, to the little gear icon and click it… then in the drop down select “Mail Settings”. Then in the top row navigation of gmail itself (not the top black bar) find “Themes” and click on that… then in the themes list, select either “Preview” or “Preview (Dense)” to look at the two versions. I prefer the “Dense” as it is a little more “Compact” You can learn more about the gmail changes here.
There ya go! A look at the new views for Google Calendar and Gmail! Do you use these apps? Have you checked out their new interfaces? Are you using them on mobile yet? Share your thoughts!
And be sure to add me to your “Social Experts” circle on G+ when you get your invite! I’ll see you there!
P.S.: Need an invite? Invites are available from me to my mailing list subscribers. If you’d like one, jump in, confirm your email address and then send an email to the email address on that email (which is my priority subscriber email address) with your GMAIL email address and name and I’ll send them out!
