Although I don’t always use them, I am intrigued by emoticons and how people use them. Albeit, not professional but emoticons are an effective form of communication. Why type “I am happy” or “smiley face” when two characters suffice “:)”?

I love using them because it expresses an emotion to what is being said. I find that using them gives a more friendly flair, especially if I’m talking to a client.

Thanks Kim!

Thanks, once again, Kim, for an informative post :)
I can see I shall have some fun with these, but when I went to the site there seem to be a few of your suggestions missing. Maybe they have removed them from Skype? I’ll test and see.

Skype already has a bunch of fun preloaded emoticons for you to choose from, like the Emo guy (emo), the dancing guy (\o/) and, of course, the ever popular puking smiley (puke).

I have been using Skype for quite a time but never noticed them. Maybe because all the call that i do on Skype are related to business and i don’t use much smileys during such convos.
But still, thanks for sharing them with us.
