Hootlet AutoScheduler vs BufferApp Brower Add-On
Where does Hootsuite’s Hootlet fit in a world that already contains the fantastic BufferApp browser add-on?
BufferApp has a distinct advantage on-the-go with their browser add-on having the ability to hook into the native tweet system. This allows the buffered tweets to correctly display the twitter ID of the site owner (which was already contained in the native tweet if it was set up correctly by the site owner).
In a world of social currency, this is an absolute must-have. This seemingly minor element makes a HUGE difference in social performance and generally is the reason I use Buffer rather than the Hootlet.
In Hootsuite in the browser however the autoscheduler picks up a component that Buffer has not been able to handle, which is the scheduling of tweets that originated in Hootsuite. Since we’re already there, this is a nice addition to our abilities.
Hootsuite gives us performance but no control over timings whereas Buffer gives us very precise control over timings which is essential for those in oddball markets.
For this reason, Hootsuite.com remains my full utility solution… but BufferApp remains handling the role of tweeting blog posts I read while puttering around the web!
