How To Share Web Content To Your Facebook Groups

Not too long ago Facebook implemented a new “Groups” feature and with it came countless headaches and questions and social SNAFUs!

One of the glaring problems (beyond the forced invitation which we all hate) is that there is no easy way to share content from the outside world easily to the group itself for the group owner.

This makes for a lot of copy pasting!

I usually use Hootsuite and their handy-dandy browser add-on called Hootlet to easily share web content to my Facebook Page (the feature set totally trumps this little application I’m about to show you) but Hootlet can’t talk to Groups…

So when my friend Steve Shoemaker recently showed me an handy little Facebook application (with bookmarklet) that is capable of sharing content straight to your group.

There are some caveats though…  first off is that it does NOT support HTTPS encryption and so if you are surfing even with Facebook’s fake HTTPS setting (or with a real protection such as HTTPSeverywhere) this application will not work for you… secondly, like the Hootlet, it does not support tagging so you are still unable to use it for many syndication activities because you can not tag the creator.

However, if you need to share  general content to a Facebook group and really need the functionality this could be just the tool your looking for!

So if you’re looking for a handy way to share content to your Facebook Group, be sure to check out Share Bookmarklet!

Be sure to tell Steve thanks for this fun find! (And if you haven’t yet also check out Hootsuite’s Hootlet)

What’s your favorite uncommon Facebook Application? Which apps do you depend on daily? Are you using groups as part of your Facebook strategy?

Look forward to sharing thoughts so leave your comment below!

Kim what a privilege to get mentioned on your blog. Not only that you share my video!

Kim I have to say that before you ever partnered with TSA in our skype talks and other dealings you have always super impressed me with your thorough knowledge of the game.

I can agree with Dave Cook’s statement on a webinar after awhile you just get lost trying to keep up.

I mean that in the best way. Thanks again for all you do for your community.

This is amazing. Thank you Steve for finding that cool FB app and thank you Kim for finding Steve’s cool video. You both are wonderful gogivers.

I’m hoping we can take this to the next level and share our stuff in the groups and on the like pages of our closest friend’s pages and group walls as well :) (be careful here and make sure you have permission).
