Thesis Skins from ThesisAwesome

I’m a big fan of the Thesis theme framework too! Many people however “do it wrong” when it comes to Thesis and fail to take advantage of a nice skin to make it look personalized and well branded. I’ve tested several of these skins with favorable results.

Thesis Skins from Smashing WP Themes

More thesis skin savings over at Smashing WP Themes. It’s important that I state that while I’m an affiliate for them, I have not used any of their skins. However, they’re running a nice sale so if youo’re in the market they might be worth checking out.

Speed Up Your Site!

MaxCDN

Using a content distribution network like Max CDN (which I use in conjunction with cloudflare and the w3 total cache wordpress plugin) can result in major improvements in site loading speed.. and THAT results in better SEO and user experience!  Max is one of the best in the industry and they’ve got a huge bandwidth sale going on. If you’re in the market for a CDN check them out!

http://just-ask-kim.com/recommends/maxcdn

Rock Your Email Marketing!

Aweber

While not technically a BF/CM sale, Aweber’s auto-responder and newsletter services are second to none! Now you can try them risk free for only $1 for your first month!

http://just-ask-kim.com/recommends/aweber

Notes

I’ll be expanding out this list as I get more information in from various vendors so be sure to check back!

My 2011 Picks!: HostGator (That sale can’t be beat and they ROCK!), StudioPress (one of two leading theme frameworks, you seriously can’t go wrong picking up this special), Black Friday Bootcamp (its free!), GoDaddy (who doesn’t need more domain names??), CommentlLuv Premium (it’s awesome!), Income Blogging Guide (when you’re ready to monetize your site).

Many of these links are my affiliate links which means that I will be compensated in some manner should you generously buy through them (thank you!).  However, these are also products that I truly believe in and believe will help you grow your business.

Always think sensibly about what you need for the year ahead and make wise business decisions. Be sure to investigate each product and only buy what is appropriate for you. (The same goes in the shopping mall too!)

I wish you and your family the best this holiday season <3

With Love,
Kimberly

PS: I’m still recommending “PrettyLink Pro” over the “Thirsty Affiliates” plugin for affiliates using WordPress.

And yes! HostGator has me waiting in suspense trying to figure out what this big deal is going to be lol

Solid deal guide here! *thumbs up*

Hey Dewane, don’t you just love how HostGator always has such awesome sales that they can keep us hanging on the edge of our seats waiting to hear?!?! Now that’s just awesomeness! Kinda reminds me of how people stalk companies like Apple for their big announcements.

Hey Dewane, just a quick headsup that I updated the guide with even more stuff! How did you like Hostgator keeping us on the wire till the very last bleeding moment?!?! LOL! Oh the suspense was killer! Its an awesome sale though and I’m considering picking up a reseller account and offering hosting. Haven’t quite made up my mind. I got a couple hours to decide!

I am on the verge of investing in a CDN. I am not sure if I should do MaxCDN or Cloudflare. Your thoughts?

If MaxCDN seems to be better, I will definitely use your affie link.

So many goodies. I still have yet to finish Christmas shopping, and even finishing up buying Angel’s prezzies for his 9th bday on Dec. 3rd.

Hey Nile, I’m running W3TC as my first layer. Then cloudflare on top of that. Then, when fully configured (which I have not done yet since the reinstall) MaxCDN can sit on top of that if needed. Start with cloudflare. It’s less of a CDN and more of a security feature with a little added speed. It also renders a read-only copy of your site if your site ever falls offline. Its pretty nice (even if every so often it thinks my site is offline when it isn’t) MaxCDN is kinda icing on the cake and something I’ll be turning back on to help reduce my bandwidth costs as well as improve speed on certain graphics/etc. Cloudflare should probably be your next step. The integration of MaxCDN into the stack is a multi step process and not as straight forward as setting up cloudflare.

I love Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The whole fighting the crowds part maybe not so much, but I definitely can deal with Cyber Monday seeing I don’t even have to leave the comfort of my own home

Reply

KimJCastleberry November 23, 2011 at 1:18 pm

Hey Taylor, that’s why I like dealing with internet based companies for specials like these. You can get great sales on both Black Friday and Cyber Monday without leaving home. For me, I did all of my Black Friday shopping, last year, by staying up late Thursday night, till Friday morning and shopping online in my slippers! By 3am Friday morning last year I was done with shopping and curled up in my warm bed! Good luck with your shopping this year!

This is the time when i (and i’m sure i’m not alone) make a kill on GoDaddy, last time i bought around ten domains but i’ve seen other people buying them in the hundreds.
Maybe i’ll also take a look at some themes this time, could use a pro one.

Reply

KimJCastleberry November 25, 2011 at 3:34 am

Hey Mary, I agree with you that it’s a great time to stock up. However, GoDaddy capped the sales prices at only a handful this year so there would be less bulk-buying. I can understand that though bulk buying is fun! Hopefully you manage to pick up some fun ones today! I just updated the specials list with more themes, courses and some other stuff too so be sure to give it a look. Lots of themes studios decided to run sales last minute!

I saw a lot of pages already about Black Friday Offer from HostGator. I got surprised when support said “its not yet released”. How could they release black friday coupon code for hostgator?

Reply

KimJCastleberry November 25, 2011 at 3:32 am

Hey Suresh, It turns out that this year HostGator is using a built-in code that they simply “turned on” at the right time. Those who are circulating a code with “80” in it are using last years code which does not work (I tested it). HG will just flip this code back off at the end of the sale. No one actually knew what the discount rate would be before yesterday however, so there were an awful lot of affiliates really stretching the truth!

In a couple hours I’m going to republish the ones that are still current but given that I only had to remove 3 or 4 of them, there’s still plenty of great stuff. HostGator is re-offering their 50% hosting discount today too which was a lovely surprise. I wouldn’t expect to see that again for a year! If you have any questions at all just give me a shout.
