Another round of SEO changes came into being at the end of September and those have had me on my toes all month trying to recover a positive growth number.
The numbers here are problematic, when compared to the August vs September ’12 traffic report, but actually look substantially better than they did three weeks ago.
For a short time, I was showing a full 10% drop in overall traffic, something that really made me wince. There’s nothing quite as disturbing as getting used to green numbers and logging in one day to a report full of red ones! Ack!
I’ve worked really hard this month to try to bring the site back into performance and I have no good answers for even WHY the site took this particular dip. Goodness knows I certainly don’t have any money keywords in my URL etc. Something in Panda 20 got me but seems to have resolved itself. However, in fairness, my SEO campaign came to completion a couple of weeks ago (report soon) and I’m sure had a LOT to do with the site recovery.
I’m already back in the green though… because I’m pretty good at knowing what pushes Google’s buttons!
Lets jump into the numbers!
Some of these numbers are okay, but when you look at the specific numbers (in light grey) you realize there is still a lot of trouble going on.
I’m not at all pleased with things at the moment and am exploring a number of alternatives. My referral numbers indicate I need to get more of you to share my stuff!
One is having set up a new account with HitTail which I must say that so far has given me some really useful information. If you haven’t checked them out you probably should.
I’ve been a little spoiled with this blog – as I rarely have rough months – so in some ways, being forced to get creative is a good thing. Doesn’t mean I have to like it though, LOL! ;)
Fortunately, I’ve gotten really good at keeping Penguins and Pandas entertained! I’ve got an upcoming e-report on that coming so stay tuned!
