Make Your Blog User Friendly
Too often bloggers are so caught up in the routine of blogging that they don’t take time to look at their blog from the perspective of the visitor. As I visited some of the wonderful blogs in the community, I’ve noticed some general things that could be improved. Here are some things I think should be added to a blog to make it easy for the visitors to your blog to do what you want when they get to your blog.
Tell your readers what you want them to do.
If you want people to share your blog, be sure to have the sharing buttons installed. Most people will just keep it moving if they have to go to another tab and log in to their social media profile to share your blog. It’s much simpler if you make it so your blog post can be shared right from your blog.
Don’t expect your reader to do more work than you do. If you expect your reader to comment once a week, give them a new post once a week. If you want daily commenting, you should blog daily. It is not fair to expect your reader to add more content to your blog than you do.
Don’t expect your reader to be psychic. You may not be getting comments because the person reading your blog doesn’t know how to leave comments. We typically take for granted what we know. We assume that the other person knows as much as we do. Today could be your blog reader’s first day on the Internet. Create a post explaining how to leave a comment and make sure it is easy to find.
Remember that blogging is a two way street. It may not seem like it, but there really is someone on the other side of that screen that is affected by what you write. This person is just as busy as you are. If you want your blog reader to interact with and share your blog, make it easy to do.
What are some ways you make your blog user friendly? What are some things you’d like to see more bloggers do?
