Understand The New Currency…
And Get Noticed!
One of the hardest things to do in the socialmediasphere is to stand out from the crowd…
Now I’m not discounting the importance (huge) of awesome visual branding, a great “what makes you unique” (USP), and other factors… however, those tend to be one time deals…
Many marketers get that far and then fail to do what it takes to get their content in front of enough eyeballs to GET REMEMBERED!
As I was discussing with several on twitter the other day, …”it’s all about personalization and strong branding out here, creating icons and memories”… …
However… icon visual art isn’t all that hard, but no one remembers a “icon” that they never see! No one associates good things with an “icon” that never generated that emotion for them.
So how do you make that trudge into social visibility when you are competing with so many others?
Here is a snippet from the monthly WordPress & Social Marketing Q&A webinar I run monthly where I explain how the game has changed in the last handful of years… and a shift that is going to be pivotal in this upcoming year.
You don’t want to enter 2012 without comprehending the deep impact of this change!
In the upcoming months, you are going to hear me share more and more about “content curation” and how important this new role is going to be going forward.
Today, media is this massive fire-hose. There’s just too much of it! The average person has neither time nor interest in drinking from the firehose and is coming to depend on key players in every industry to “filter” out the bits that they NEED to know while “saving” them from massive overwhelm and time wasting.
This is also part of why I adapted my blogging approach to include more of a short-attention-span content curation friendly “tumblog” format (while still not giving up the awesome tutorials, trainings and extended teachings I’m best known for).
One thing I didn’t mention but is very important is that this process can burn you as fast as it can build your business if you syndicate crap! Just a couple pieces of low quality stuff shared to your network and your network stops listening. Don’t underestimate how precious that “eyeball time” of your readers really is! (In fact, its more valuable this year than last!)
Are you using taking advantage of the content curation model? Have you delved into how much you can gain by promoting other people’s stuff? What is your thoughts on where the industry is headed? Share your thoughts below!
Taking The Headaches Out of Internet Marketing
PS: You know what’s really neat about this? It’s not about who has the most cash to compete. This new model expands on the expert industry and further opens the doors for someone that is truly passionate about their niche to excel!
