Accidentally land on Flickr yesterday and saw the new “Pinterest” alike design of the home page. Actually again landed on another blog as saw a message that size is increase to 1TB, so consumers definitely win from this. About Thumblr, my personal opinion is that Yahoo made another terrible deal.

The odd couple picture I have seen before on pinterest, but I did not know it was the most commented one :)

I also came across another blog post regarding the potential of Pinterest as a tool to increase website traffic, and i agree with it.

Thanks for posting this info about Flickr- I heard about it today, but wasn’t sure how they could offer that much storage for free. Looks like you get to put up with ads if you want it for “free”.

Hi Kim

Thanks for the update about what is going on in Social Marketing. I am so glad you made it a video so I didn’t have to read all you just told me in a normal blog post ;-)
I am not really surprised about SnapChat, but cool that we got 1 TB of space on Flicker.

Hi Kim,
thank you so much for the awesome information of the latest changes!

Wow, 1 TB of storage on Flickr!!
We may want to make sure that we have our photos in a private folder if we are using it as a backup?
How safe is it to use Flickr to upload your images?
It is interesting to hear your opinion on Tumblr. Will it still be called Tumblr?

Much appreciated!
Cheers,
Yorinda

Hi Kim,
There are sooo many different social network companies now it is hard to keep track of them all, They all seem to offer pretty much the same thing and do the same stuff.. Thank you for bringing all this to our attention though, there is always something new coming out! And that old couple pic is beautiful!!!!!!!

I get a bunch of traffic from my Tumblr properties so its a little disconcerting knowing the Yahoo! has taken over the site.

But there is potential for Yahoo! to do good things with it if they keep some of the old staff on board to help run things and better integrate it with their system.

But more than likely they will do what happens every time Yahoo! takes over anything. They will flood it with advertising and totally destroy the site.

Thanks for the updates!

I received an email from Pinterest saying you can now include prices and recipes into your pins, but I haven’t seen any?

I’m not a pinner, I just browse but this would be a cool features, especially the recipe idea. Can you confirm this is legit?

I’m holding my breath about the Yahoo buyout of Tumblr. It’s such a great brand building tool I’m scared that it will change.

I was very surprised to see that Tumblr had been bought by Yahoo but I guess everything has a price! I do hope that Yahoo don’t tinker with the site and ruin the user experience. What has become a hugely successful site needs to be well managed so users don’t get turned off.

Acquiring Tumblr is a good step by yahoo as well as allowing 1 tb storage in flickr will kill other photo hosting website that charge money for storing websites as well as app.

I am curious to find out if tumblr will indeed suffer the fate of other yahoo services… They seem to have a hand that kills everything they touch.

What a lovely Pin you shared on the older couple – can absolutely see why it’s so popular.

So interesting that Yahoo bought Tumblr when the DJIA is over 15,000 – and the NASDAQ is at highs too – why do these companies always buy at the peak???? Great for Tumblr though

Hi Kim,

Gosh I love your updates! I feel so informed and on top of every trend going on. You deliver the most awesome news. Thanks for the update on Pinterest and the Yahoo/Tumblr transition. The article about the picture of the children texting on the porch shows how an image can be taken out of context. Thanks for planting the seed of awareness of what could happen if we are not diligent.

I’m also very glad to hear that WordPress is most likely not a candidate for a buy out. I have love, gratitude, and
appreciation for the WordPress community…and your updates!

Hi Kim, wow your website is a great resource. Question about Pinterest. I love the site! Although mainly I love it because I cook and I use it for personal reasons. I’m having a hard time using it for business. Do you find you get referral traffic from there? Interested in your personal experience.

Again thanks for all you do!

I am very impressed on getting 1 T of space. I am about to dump all of my pictures there and hope they don’t charge me for keeping them there later.

I’m pretty happy with the 1TB of space on Flickr. I stopped using Flickr after I decided a pro account was no longer necessary with the arrival of Pinterest. Once I went back to a free account and was limited to just 100 viewable images, it just seems like a dinosaur not worth our time. I’ve had that acct for almost 6 years so I didn’t try deleting it. With the new layout and more space than I’ll ever use, I’m post there again. With Yahoo’s bad track record, we’ll see how things turn out with both Flickr and Tumblr.

The new improvement and the best improvement of Pinterest is adding an analytic board with his social media. By that, every Pinterest profile user check his profile reach like Facebook fan page reach and also get a notification of how many likes and repins has been done on his profile.
the new news of yahoo bought tumblr is great but i didn’t see any updation right now. I don’t think that they are going to change tumblr interface but they can try to make tumblr more SEO optimize in future.

Great podcast! As I’m also interested in SMM, I wonder if you agree with the recent rumors that Facebook will be “dead” soon, because of it’s friendship system – many people, especially young are now moving to the Tumblr as it doesn’t require personal information or photos and they can communicate there only with those they want – no parents and teaches, as on Facebook
