Are You Making These
Niche Marketing Mistakes?
When taking part in niche marketing the goal is profitability and the ability to stay in the business over time.
Unfortunately, there are a couple common mistakes that new marketers make that set them up for failure.
If you do not avoid – or correct – these mistakes, you will run your ship into the ground before you ever see the results you want.
#1 Skipping the Research Process
Truly the most critical mistake you can make when it comes to niche marketing is not doing the research. A niche is just a business idea. It’s not a guarantee for profits. If you don’t do the research to ensure you have chosen a potentially profitable topic then you will likely wind up wasting valuable time, energy and money. I absolutely do not want that to happen to you! Do your research!
That means researching the supply and the demand and then researching:
– Your competition
– Monetization opportunities
– USP – how to position your business to compete
– Your audience
#2 Not Taking “Profitability” Into Consideration
Just because a niche topic has a lot of demand and little supply doesn’t mean it is ultimately going to generate profits. There has to be a way to monetize a topic.
The same is true of passion topics. While many passion topics CAN be monetized when focused carefully on certain aspects, approaching them with “blind faith” often leads to heartbreaking results.
#3 Letting Yourself Become Overwhelmed
You’re in control here. You’re the boss. That means you can and should create systems that support your success.
For example, consider downloading your keyword research spreadsheets and using three ring binders to help organize them by topic and information category. Staying organized is key! Use mind maps to brainstorm niche ideas and track everything. When it’s organized, your research won’t be overwhelming.
Understanding where to start when there are fifty bazillion things that seem to need doing is critical!
There are actually many other mistakes and success strategies you can learn to build a better business. However, these are the ones that usually get people in trouble first!
