All That Great Content That No One Sees Because You Didn’t Promote Your Blog
Let’s face the facts right from the start. And I know this is going to upset a few people, but it’s okay because its for your own good.
You can write the best content in the world. I am talking cancer curing, life saving, you would have made a grand a day content. And you can do it on a daily, bi-weekly, or weekly schedule.
But it does not mean a thing, if you do not promote your blog.
If you do not come up with a per page plan to get your content noticed by the masses. You might as well be creating an article directory.
You know, one of those sites that nobody goes to. But hundreds of people seem to keep writing for on a daily basis.
This is not the first time I have addressed this issue with my fellow community members and the small business owners that hire me to help them. But it seems more and more people forget the most important part of being a blogger.
Getting your message read.
After all, you have something very important to say. And people deserve the chance to hear your opinions.
So what do you say we get to work on letting them.
Time Saving Ways To Promote Your Blog
Why do I worry about time saving when it comes to promotion?
When you write a post how long does it take you? Ten minutes, 45 minutes, maybe even a couple hours if you count your research time.
So when your done writing the last thing you want to do is go to a bunch of different places and write some more.
But I have you covered.
I am going to give you a couple places where you can share your content. And I don’t mean be all spammy and throw your link into a hundred different groups on Facebook or Google Plus. I mean some real places that people like to go and read your stuff already.
- Join a community
I know seems a bit self serving to put a post about a community on a blog for a community. But the fact of the matter is that people have and continue to network through YCDI because it helps you become a better marketer. Things in the industry change daily and you can be sure to get the latest news there.
Just be careful to pay attention to the special threads that allow you to share your latest blog post URLs in them.
- FriendsPlus Me
Ok, here is a cool free tool that will allow you to syndicate your content to your big four social accounts all on autopilot.
All you have to do is go there and link your Google Plus profile to their site.
Then, and here is the magic.
You link your Facebook profile, Facebook pages, Twitter account (you can do more than one), and your LinkedIn account to that.
What happens now is the best part.
After you’ve done writing your content just to that page on your site. Click the Google+ button (you better have one), and share the post with your circles. Then the system will auto-magically share your content on the rest of your social profiles for you.
That one trick alone just saved you 15 minutes of logging in and copy/pasting your content.
- Use bookmarklets on your browser
I have a small select set of sites that I always share my content to. Bookmarklets are an easy ways to share to your favorite destinations without needing to slow down your browser with add-ons.
I’m sure you will get the value of these sites as you use them more. And it really doesn’t take any more time then to just push the button and submit
Scoop.it – You and no doubt heard all the buzz about content curation right? Well that’s what you get to do with this site. You create a board about your topic and then post your links and the links of other sites within that niche. People love this site because it free’s up a lot of research time.
BizSugar.com – And finally, this is for you folks who are looking to help small business type people with your content. You can get a lot of traction on this site with good content. But your content is great so your going to do awesome. Make sure you vote on other people’s stuff every once in a while. And comment on their sites and their BizSugar listing. The more your interact with the site, the more likely your going to see some great traffic gains.
- LinkedIn Groups
There are tons and tons of courses on how to use Facebook and Google to market. But only a couple that I know of that even bother to address LinkedIn.
And that is a good thing for you.
Go in to your account and join groups that are in your niche. You don’t have to join a lot, but the more the better. Your looking for groups were people are posting and commenting often. Commenting is the key here because that tells you that people are reading the group.
Then after you write your content use your social sharing widget to post to all your groups. It will do them all at one time for you.
Now here is where the magic happens.
Unless you know how to shut them off, groups send out notification emails every day. And there sits a link to your content, smiling at your potential new visitor like a cat sitting on your keyboard until you pet it.
LinkedIn is the number one referrer to my site, and that is all I do with the network.
