Google SEO Tip
For Linking To Source
In a new webmaster video, Google’s Matt Cutts tackles this article attribution question:
“I have a blog and I post original articles but I also like to link to the original website. So I link the website in a word in the first paragraph. Is this the right way or I should give a link separately at bottom.”
Have a question? Ask it in our Google’s Webmaster Help Forum: http://groups.google.com/a/googleproductforums.com/forum/#!forum/webmasters
To this, I’d like to also add, that it’s equally good manners to ensure that the outbound link to the original is dofollow.
This means if you’re setting all outbound links to no-follow that you will have to override that. Fortunately, WP makes all outbound links in the content body dofollow by default so if you’re not altering that, yours are already playing nice with others!
Being a good netizen and playing well with others goes a long way towards getting others to be nice to you in return… and the digital realm we play in is no exception!
