Target Market Perspective
In Niche Definition
![]()
Yesterday I mentioned some of the niche definition challenges I’d come face to face with while I was attending Wordcamp in Chicago.
I decided that bit of information really deserved its own post and so I removed it from there so I could build on that thought today.
I hope you enjoy this video and I look forward to YOUR response to this question!
If you know of anyone that might benefit from this information, I’d be thrilled if you’d share it! Hopefully others can learn from what I went through and not have to repeat it in such an awkward situation!
I look forward to hearing your answer to the question below!

Very interesting subject here. You are absolutely right on by trying to get into your clients’ heads and speaking to them from their point of view. That is marketing 101.
It seems that you are in need of creating an acceptable and interesting elevator speech.
One way I learned to create one is by explaining a problem and then explaining how you fit into solving that problem.
I don’t have mine yet but I will give it a try here:
It would go something like this…
Q. Well what do you do?
A. Do you know how so many people got into trouble because they were not prepared for the economic downturn and after they got into trouble thought to themselves, “I should have better prepared myself while I was making money”
Well I coach and motivate clients into recovering from a financial disaster by teaching them how to rebuild their finances step by step, the right way! I help them find a way to increase their savings, improve their credit and find how to decide what the right financial products are for them taking into consideration their short and long term financial goals.
This may be a little rough around the edges but it should give you a basic understanding on how to structure yours.
When someone asks me, what does Kim do? I just tell them that they HAVE to connect with you no matter what. She’s just a great person to know PERIOD.
But that is just me.
Thanks, good luck and hope to speak to you soon.

Jose presents a great example of a technique I learned to create an ‘elevator speech’ – starting with “Do you know how …” and adding the problem you know your target market wants to solve, and then saying “Well, I do …” explaining how you provide a solution to that problem.
I’ve had a great deal of difficulty with this – my niche has resisted all efforts at narrowing it down! – and I’m very grateful not to have been thrust into a situation that required me to think on my feet without prior thought or rehearsal!
But to honour your request, best gf, and also because I KNOW I really need to do this ~ here’s my elevator speech …
“What floor do you want?”
Ok just kidding!
Here goes …
“What do you do?”
“Well, you know how most people want to create a second income, or work from home, but they say they don’t have time or the energy or maybe they don’t think they can sell or talk to strangers?”
“Well, I help people, particularly women, not only how to declutter and organize the running of their homes so that they have the Time to create their own business, but also how to Create the Abundance Mindset that’s absolutely crucial to their success.
In short, I help women create a goddess-worthy Lifestyle.”
So, what do you think?
