of Internet Marketing

• Latest News
There’s been a ton of news in the industry since I sent out a blog-post digest last so I’d pay special attention to this one to ensure you see all the new stuff.
I heard many many requests for a solid WordPress beginner course and I’m listening! I licensed a really well put together course and am adding to it with notes, tips and some supplemental videos. It will be available soon.
Black Friday is coming up and I expect HostGator to run some awesome hosting specials again like they did last year. If you’re looking for hosting, looking to change hosts, or about to renew your account with another host, wait and check out the specials I will email you about next week!
Mark your calendar, more info soon by email on the upcoming WP & SM Q&A webinar on Wed. 11-16-11 2pm CST!
Something to look for in the upcoming weeks…
It may not be soon as I’ve got too many irons in the fire at the moment (wow it’s been crazy around here!)… but I wanted to give you a headsup!
In the near future we’re going to have a “Chose Your Own Adventurebook” game!
Okay, maybe not a game, but I’m going to offer you some subscription options to let you really get more of the things you want from me (and less of what you may not need).
I think this is going to let me serve you best while giving you the most sanity in your inbox!
Some areas I plan to focus on (to give you an idea of what might interest you) are:
1) For my subscribers who primarily have offline businesses, are interested in services rather than mostly products, and who already have an established business generating healthy revenue and just want to excel!
2) For my internet marketing (IM) niche readers. Those who are working to earn a living from home and through their blogs with affiliate and product marketing and whether they’re just getting started or building their business are looking for ways to ace the game!
3) For my readers and community in network marketing. Network marketers have some special needs and also have a lot of unique offerings available to them.
… and maybe one more… perhaps one that is more of my personal thoughts and insights into not just the industry but life as well… for those of you who are hard core! LOL!
This should give you a great way to have more flexibility and to pick-and-chose what is best for you!
Make Google Smile!
In the last couple months, Google has been adding to the things that it wants to see on your blog.
One of those is “Authorship” and one might say the other is “Publishership”.
That’s a lotta ships!
The publisher tag defines the blog itself and the author/me tag defines who wrote that particular post on the blog.
It’s a rather slick combo but it does require setting it up.
I covered Authorship in the WP SEO class (which is available for sale) and will be updating that course shortly with a video to cover the new Publishership.
Don’t miss the boat!

Cover Your Butt!
Your computer needs a decent amount of protection of nefarous fools when simply pluging in your internet cord or turning on wi-fi.
It is very important for an in-home network to have a router. This is a little “dumb box” that may not seem to do much but actually dramatically protects you from a lot of stuff (but not everything)
For any desktop, a simple combination is to start with a router, and then a good little antivirus like Nod32, Avast or AVG with only the antivirus and then turn on Microsoft Window’s Firefall.
This will be the lightest weight solution that will slow your computer down the least while still keeping you safe.
Of course you still have to know not to click stuff that is dangerous too.
I advise staying away from Norton and McAfee, my long years in tech have given me plenty of reasons to not recommend them.
Microsoft Security Essentials is a “so-so” antivirus. Better than nothing and reasonably light weight but it’s not something I’d bet too heavily on and most certainly won’t stand a chance if you don’t use a router.
The combination of Router and Windows Firewall for the most part negates the need of heavyweights like Zone Alarm that are overkill for the average person.
