The Most Profitable
Types of Info Products
Considering becoming an information marketer? Congratulations!
It’s such a wonderful way to make a living. You get to share your information and knowledge with others, help them solve their problems and you get to make a comfortable living at the same time. It doesn’t really get better than that.
But what type of information product are you going to create and sell?
Ebooks – Ebooks are probably the most common type of information product available. This is likely because they’re so easy to create. Just follow a few key steps to make sure your efforts are on target with demand and you’re ready to profit.
Don’t consider yourself a writer? That’s okay. You can “talk” your ebook by recording it and having it transcribed. You can even hire someone to edit the transcription into a “fully edited” book.
There are other ways to create ebooks that don’t require writing. For example, you could interview ten experts and compile them into a product.
Reports – These are simply smaller than ebooks and may sometimes be called a “whitepaper” depending on what industry you are in.
Video – Video is another great way to provide information. The common ingredient in most information products is…you guessed it, information. It doesn’t really matter how the information is presented. And in fact, many topics are better suited to video.
For example if you’re selling information on how to train an animal then a video may be easier because people can see you demonstrate the training technique.
Online courses – These are usually segmented into smaller digestible nuggets of information and delivered via autoresponder. They may differ from an ebook or report because you may have action steps or exercises that your customers can complete before the next lesson. An online course about how to start an online business is a common example. Each lesson takes you one more step toward launching your business.
Audios – Don’t forget audio products. We’re a society that likes to multitask and audio products turn drive time into learning time. Of course, instead of sending your customers a CD or a cassette tape, you simply send them an MP3 file to download.
There are other types of information products too, like software, blueprints, and mindmaps and so on but the biggies, the ones that tend to be sold most often are the ones we’ve covered above.
So How Do You Decide?
This is an important decision because you want the product creation process to be quick and easy. So if you’re not comfortable in front of the camera for example, then creating a video is probably not a good idea – though you could hire someone to create it for you.
One thing is for sure, if you can talk, you can write an ebook. This is because the best selling ebooks are written conversationally. An ebook can be a great addition to any website, blog or online business and help generate both leads and sales!
To Your Success!
