Unique Niche Idea
One of the biggest challenges to finding a niche idea is finding one that meets the criteria for a profitable business. You want a unique topic that has lots of demand and little supply.
Not a small challenge!
One way to help you get started on the right foot and shortcut your research is to think outside the box while brainstorming for a niche.
#1 The Magazine Stand
Visit a magazine stand or head to your local bookstore and search for magazines in your areas of interest. Open the magazine and read the table of contents. Let’s say, for example, that you like collecting things. Maybe you have a doll, car or piggy bank collection. Open the cover of a collectibles magazine and the table of contents might list twenty different types of collections or articles about collecting. Each one of these is a potential micro niche.
There are a few great trend resources. You can visit Google Trends and check out the hot topics of the day. You can also use social networking trend data to track trends. Finally, consider visiting sites like Trendwatch.com to see what their take on the latest trends is. You may very well be able to brainstorm unique niche ideas based on your interests and current trends.
Google offers this fun tool which you can use in a number of ways. If you have a Google account you can sign up for “Alerts”. You simply enter your keywords, in this case your niche, and Google will send you email messages with all of the web pages and blog posts that use those keywords each day. It’s a great way to brainstorm the possibilities. It’s also handy to keep tabs on your industry and your competition. Also, it’s free to use.
Finding your ideal niche may take some time and effort but it’s worth it. When you find that profitable niche you’ll be thrilled with the results.
