A new blog is a bit like a brand new house. It’s so clean, so pristine, and so ripe with potential to be turned into a home! A house is only a house until you make it your home, and I welcome you to mine.
I invite you to start by checking out the About Page, which I believe will give a lot of insight into why it was time for this blog to come into being and what you can look forward to finding here. (Gives you a moment to go read it…. done?)
This blog is both a product of and a part of the Journey that has lead me to this place. It can be uncomfortable as we struggle with the internal push-pull of wanting to express ourselves freely. We can feel torn by societies mixed messages which tend to beg us to tell all simply so we can become the expense of another’s jokes. Yet we all have that need, to be known for who we really are, and to be able to safely share that self. It can be scary, it can be painful, it can be downright petrifying, yet indeed when done in a safe environment it can be the thing that gives us our wings!
I have been watching others for a while, particularly those in leadership and business. They often talk of authenticity and yet wear two personalities even unintentionally! With others, particularly in business, we find the old standards to “keep it professionally” still very alive and well. Yet we also know that “professional” isn’t always what drives us to do business with another. Often times we gravitate towards those who have been willing to show themselves as human. Real, sometimes raw, sometimes ragged, sometimes rough edged and unrefined, human beings. We gravitate towards those that show us that our own self, which to us feels flawed, is in no way less than many of the most seemingly successful people! Oh how we crave to know we are not alone!
Whether it is our sexuality, our spirituality or our inner fears, each of us have deep within us aspects of our True Selves in need of expression. Each of us desires to know that the secrets we keep are also the secrets others keep. We want to know that we are not the only one afraid of having to live forever behind a mask designed to appease others!
I’ve reached a point in life where I’ve grown exceptionally weary of the game of wearing masks to appease others. I simply have run out of any tolerance what many try to tell me is a need to continue this behavior. Dress-up is a game for children and I’m ready to actually be ME for a change!
I know this won’t be a blog for everyone. I know that not everyone will be drawn to what I’m doing here … and that’s alright! The people that need to be here will find this place and the rest will blow away like leaves in the wind. Together people can share their Journey’s and connect with others and know that they are not alone.
Thank you for joining me on this wonderful Journey! I hope you will share your own stories here. I hope if you feel drawn to this place that you’ll also share it with others. I look forward to getting to know and share with each of you!
