All of Your Favorites
At A Glance!
Recently, the WordPress repository (that is, the part of the WordPress.org site that houses all sorts of things including documentation and “upgrades” such as plugins and themes), got a major overall…
And with it, came a new “Favorites” feature!
If you are surfing within the WordPress repository and see a plugin you us regularly, you can click the small “heart” under the download button, to add it to the favorites for your profile.
That heart associates the plugin with your profile (which is your login) so that the information is stored. You can simply all of your own (or other peoples) by visiting your/their profile URL:
I use “favorites” to not only bookmark my true favorites but to mark ones that might be useful for a one-off project that I need to later come back and test.
And now, with WordPress version 3.5 and above… you can easily ALSO view them from within your WordPress Dashboard:
This is located in your WordPress Admin Dashboard -> Left Sidebar -> Plugins -> Add New -> Favorites (little link near the top)
Something handy is that, because these lists are public, you can put in the userID of ANY WordPress.org registered user and pull up their list… so you can easily access mine! (Just be aware that, as I mentioned above, some are listed for testing reminders.)
From here you can easily see the plugin name, version, stars, and perhaps most importantly the link to “Get Details” which will show you if the plugin supports your current version of WordPress. Then of course there is an install link.
While you can not currently bulk-install or mass-install all/some of them at once, you at least have them in one view to make setting up your own or client blogs easy!
How are you liking WordPress 3.5? Have you marked any plugins as favorites yet?
