Keywords & Text,
So You Can Focus On Blogging
This is one of several fine SEO plugins from Vladimir Prelovac and you will likely see me cover it again when I talk about SEO optimization. For now, its enough to know that this is a stable, well supported, free plugin by a guy that understands SEO.
In a (brief) nutshell, SEO Smart Links “automatically” links the keywords and phrases (that you’ve added to the plugins settings panel) from the post you’re busy writing, with appropriate links to posts/pages/keywords/tags from other content on your blog. This, by itself is a HUGE time-saver because it saves us from having to spend hours, routinely, over and over again being sure that we’ve kept all of our old pages linked to our new ones and new pages linked to our old ones, as is called for in good SEO. For this purpose, it works pretty much straight out of the box, with its default settings.
However, its has the ability to do one additional trick that we want to put it to use for! The custom keyword field is where the magic happens!
Here, you fill in the words you would like to be auto-linked (separated by commas) followed by the link URL you want them to link to (remember those affiliate links we cleaned up above in GoCodes??)

(Be sure to also set the check boxes to open external links as “nofollow” and in a new window IF your using this plugin to link to affiliate sites.)
There really is no downside to this plugin. Its SEO features alone make it a “needed” for the all bloggers even if you’re not using it to auto-link redirected affiliate links. Its super simple to set up and you’re going to love the time saving benefits.
If you haven’t been fully introduced to what interlinking is and why it’s important for SEO please be sure you drop by my post on interlinking for WordPress.
This is a 5 star plugin for blend of stability, necessity of feature-set, lightweight, useful even for non-affiliates.
However, I have replaced this plugin with a somewhat more advanced plugin that does multiple things, called PrettyLink.

PS: Be sure to leave your comments below, I look forward to hearing from you! (And thank in advance if you decide to share this with others!)
PSS: I get a lot of questions about this plugins keyword linking “doing nothing” and that is because people assume they don’t have to set up these keyword matches in the settings for each post that they want to have linked out across the blog.
