WP Corner Peel Plugin Review
A “Corner Peel” is a small advertisement that runs in the upper right corner of the site and makes the page appear to be “peeling” and showing a page behind it.
A corner peel ad inspires a visitor to click it and check out an advertisement without being in their face with the ad.
I’ve used two different WordPress corner peel plugins – that are both free and in the WordPress directory – that are both based on the same original code but are slightly different and both work well but which one is best depends on the theme you are using.
So where does WP Corner Peel Plugin come in?
I recently however, stumbled across a paid plugin called WP Corner Peel Plugin and I was interested in whether it would be better than what was freely available and meet the things that the free ones can’t yet do.

So I dropped the author a line via his contact form … and below is the reply I think you will enjoy!

I have some questions about this plugin (pre-purchase).
1) Is it able to be excluded from certain pages of my wordpress site?
2) Can different peel images be run on different pages?
3) How does this plugin differ from http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/jquery-page-peel/ or http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/page-cornr/ …
Both of which are ased on the work by Soh Tanaka:
Is this plugin also a GPL derivative?
I have a major WordPress site that has a lot of different functionality going on with a membership control area, shopping cart, affiliate platform, social network (mingle, similar to buddypress) as well as my sales/capture pages. The ability to exclude the peel from certain pages and to use different peel art on different pages is important to me.

Thanks for your inquiry.
1. No. It will show up on all pages, I believe.
3. looks like it gets the same result
No, this plugin is getting from a coder who write it from scratch. It is not from GPL.
I suggest you use the GPL one for now.
Summary of WP Corner Peel Plugin
So – when the reseller suggests you not buy – I think I’ll recommend you take his suggestion to not buy the WP Corner Peel Plugin! ;)
It is very likely that this $15 plugin is a recoded version of the WordPress corner peel style GPL plugin that is available to you for free in the WordPress directory. While I have not purchased it, I see absolutely no reason to do so as – even though its been recoded – its “essentially” (though not legally) a derivative of a GPL version of a WordPress corner peel style plugin.
I provided the links, in the message above, to the two WP corner peel plugins I have used and liked. It does sorta depend on your theme which one will work best for you, but both are “essentially” this plugin.
None of these plugins have the added features I asked about – and would love to see added to a plugin of this sort but until one of us is ready to pay a coder to have it coded we will just have to wait. (Any coder want to volunteer??)
I suggest you check out Jquery Page Peel and Page Cornr, which are both WordPress corner peel solutions and both available in the WordPress repository for free (and via Plugins -> Add New – > Search)
…and if you enjoy these it would be kind of you to visit Soh Tanaka’s site (link above) and tell them thank you for writing the code that made this ability available to us without having to use the old flash methods.
Here’s to your success!
PS: You have to weigh carefully how much advertising you use on a site, whether it is WordPress corner peels, popups, footers, banners or Adsense. It’s important to use a multiple hit strategy but to keep it subtle, smooth and very non-obnoxious. Think carefully before implementing these or ANY form of advertising what the impact will be to the value proposition your page presents and to making sure your visitor is not hit with too many ads at once.
